Staying Healthy During the Holidays

As you know, the holidays are creeping up quickly upon us, and soon we will be with family. An important thing to do is to always take care of yourself so you don’t feel under the weather, especially when family comes. Some easy ways to do this would be to…

1. Stay Active

It can be so easy to say, but harder to just fit in your schedule, or actually have the will power to do it. Just frequently working out can help you stay in a better mood, and helps to strengthen your body’s immune system which fights off colds and the flu this time of year! Plus, getting your heart rate up and breaking a sweat is a great form of getting rid of toxins in your body. Make sure to s – t – r – e – t – c – h  those muscles before and after a workout. This gets your muscles warmed up before a workout and helps aid in muscle recovery after a workout. **Don’t forget that you don’t have to be enrolled in a fitness center to stay in shape. If the weather is great, go on a hike with a friend or ride a bike! If the weather is nasty or cold, working out in your own home is another great option.



2. Sloww Downn & Smell the Roses

Many times during the year, people get caught up thinking about what they are going to do the next day or week. Keeping a list and prioritizing can make your life much easier. Just make sure you take the time to enjoy the life you have and the loved ones that surround you, since every day is truly a gift from God. Fun Fact: My mom just helped me realize that the present (time) is actually a gift! Get it! 🙂

3. Eat Healthy

I’m not saying that you cannot eat your grandma’s delicious stuffing or pie when the holidays come up, but what I am saying is don’t make that your lifestyle. Make sure that you try to eat lean, clean, and nutrient dense foods, and your body will thank you. Did you know that the way you look is based on: 80% DIET, 10% EXERCISE, and 10% GENETICS


I am telling you all of this to say that you should take care about the things that are important to you, like your well-being, and you’ll be glad you did! 🙂

My Thoughts About Exercise

Exercise is so important for your whole well-being.

Our bodies were meant to exercise. Remember that good old saying, “Use it or lose it”? If you decide to not use your body, your body will age much more quickly. Armand Tecco, the president and founder of HealthEase, explains these effects. “Your muscles will become flabby and weak. Your heart and lungs won’t function efficiently. And your joints will be stiff and easily injured. Inactivity is as much of a health risk as smoking!”1
